Student Celebrations!

We are missing the BEST time of year. This time of year is usually full of field trips, fun review activities, spending time outside, creating even stronger relationships, and celebrating student achievements! It truly is the time of year that I can’t wait for every year..it is just full of joy.

We always have a “surprise” award ceremony for our 4th graders and it is something I look forward to every year. We also always take a day to celebrate EACH student individually by creating a compliment poster for them. This idea was adapted from Miss 5th! I wanted to recreate both of these celebrations virtually and have been trying to figure out HOW in the world to do it and still make it special.

To create individual student celebrations, I am having a “Student of the Day”! Each day I choose a student who is the student of the day. They get to choose something special that they can do that day to celebrate and then each student writes them a compliment in a Google Form.

Once all of the compliments are done, I will put all of the compliments on a poster for the student and give it to them at the end of the year when they pick up all of their supplies!

To make the “poster” I just:

  • Remove the background of their picture here: Remove Background
  • Insert their picture into the Google Slide
  • Copy + Paste the comments from the Google Form onto the poster
    • If you wanted, you could share the Google Slides with your students + have them type out their own compliment there instead
  • Add the student’s name by their picture

I created a schedule so students know what day they will be + can decide what special activity they would like to do! It also allows students to write compliments for any student that they missed. Grab these editable templates + forms if you’d like to try it out yourself by clicking the picture above!

Thanks for doing this! I usually end the year this way with my second graders and they love it. I can’t wait to use this!
